Choices Group is one of the largest providers of substance abuse, co-occurring treatment and drugs of abuse testing in Nevada. We implemented the 3rd Drug Court treatment program in the nation and piloted the first Juvenile, Dependency, Child Support and Prison Re-entry Drug Court programs nationally. Choices also operates a large onsite Drug Screening Laboratory which is sanctioned by the State of Nevada and has been awarded a National Center of Excellence Award – one of just four in the nation.

Since 1989, Choices Group has been the primary treatment provider for the Clark County Drug Courts, and it is now the third-largest Drug Court in the nation. We approach substance abuse treatment with a distinct philosophy of wellness. Positive reinforcement, sanctions and judicial oversight are tools used to motivate changes in negative behaviors. Our model requires clients to plan ahead, looking forward to a bright future rather than focusing on their past. We are frequently called upon to provide assistance to other Drug Courts across the U.S. and serve as a mentor treatment court training site for the National Association of Drug Court professionals. Choices Group was also selected by the U.S. Department of Justice as a national evaluation site.

Through our treatment model, our programs address early recovery issues, wellness education, relapse and recovery, and transitional education and groups. Treatment includes drug testing, counseling, wellness treatment, educational assistance, vocational training, and job placement. The Drug and DUI Court Judges, Public Defenders, District Attorneys, Probation Officers, child welfare workers, and treatment providers work together to monitor the progress of the client.

Maple Star Nevada provides a variety of mental health, rehabilitation and foster care services. We have operated since 1995 and provide multiple levels of foster care as well as rehabilitation and day treatment programs throughout Nevada. Specialized foster homes and supportive services allow our organization to serve a wide variety of Nevada youth, including those involved with Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice Systems, as well as tribal children. These support services are available not only to Maple Star foster homes but to families and foster homes operated by the county and other providers.

Maple Star builds on strengths within clients’ communities and relationships, rather than segregating and isolating young people from others. We seek to emphasize client strengths by identifying and developing interests and skills, increasing opportunities for social relationships, and increasing the continuity of relationships.
