In Georgia, Pathways offers services through its wholly owned entities, AmericanWork, Inc. and Transitional Family Services, Inc.

AmericanWork, Inc. began providing services to Georgia’s severely mentally ill adults in 1999, and today offers a range of services that maximize the ability of people with a mental illness or addictive disorder to live and thrive in their community. Our goals are parallel with the recovery and resiliency model Georgia desires. As an organization, we are aware of the importance of exploring the consumer’s perspective and the key roles of instilling hope, promoting self-help, spirituality, education, meaningful employment, the importance of medications and illness management, and the need to build supports for each consumer as a “whole person” who is seeking a self-directed life.

Since its inception, AmericanWork, Inc. has promoted an atmosphere of caring by “meeting the individual where he or she is” and taking into account each individual consumer’s needs when providing services. This allows AmericanWork to achieve their ultimate goal to allow consumers to live their recovery. It has helped pioneer the peer support counseling concept and help make Georgia the first state to successfully implement such programs as a Medicaid billable service.

AmericanWork serves consumers in all six Regions of Georgia Department Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. We have a collaborative service agreement with the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, State of Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to provide core services in Regions 2 and 6, specialty services in Regions 1, 2, 4, 5, & 6, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) in Regions 2, 5, and 6, residential services in Region 4 and Supported Housing and Intensive Residential Services in Region 6.

In addition, AmericanWork, Inc is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Transitional Family Services, Inc. (TFS) began providing services to Georgia’s children in 1993 and today offers a range of family preservation services, child/adolescent, and adult services. Currently, TFS holds contracts in thirty counties in Central, Northern, and Eastern Georgia with The Department of Family and Children Services, with the Department of Juvenile Justice, and with DBHDD (Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities).

TFS is accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA), is approved by the state to offer CORE Services (C&A and Adult), Comprehensive Child and Family Assessments (CCFA), and Intensive Family Intervention Services (IFI) through Medicaid, as well as provide therapy, counseling, and parent aide services through Homestead Family Preservation. Additionally, we work with local CMOs, Wellcare, Cenpatico, and Amerigroup (as well as some private insurance, FFS, and self-pay).
